Parents Q an
d A
1. When is Fall Registration?
Fall registration will open in April. We have very limited roster sizes so don't wait!
2. Does my child have to play at the level they are offered in online registration?
No, your child can almost always play up an age division but cannot play down an age division. If you think your child should move up, please contact us at
[email protected]
.
3. My town and the town next door have a soccer club. Can my child join both?
That depends on which team your child wants to play on. Yes, they can join both clubs if they wish to play in our Vic Power Fun league. Select and Elite teams come with attendance requirements that typically don't allow for multi-club play. Please reach out to
[email protected]
with any scheduling questions you may have. The same applies if the other club is in your hometown as well.
4. Are you the only Arrowhead Youth Soccer Association (AYSA) approved team in town? Is HCSC the only AYSA approved team on the Iron Range?
Yes! Being the only AYSA-approved club in town means we are the exclusive, officially recognized youth soccer organization in the community. This designation comes with several key benefits:
-Exclusive Affiliation- We are the sole club authorized to operate under AYSA’s umbrella, ensuring alignment with their standards and mission.
-Quality Assurance- We adhere to AYSA’s policies, coaching standards, and safety protocols, providing consistent, high-quality soccer experience.
-Access to Resources- We receive support from AYSA, including training materials, insurance coverage, and access to leagues, tournaments, and development programs.
-Community Representation- We serve as the primary youth soccer organization, representing the community in AYSA-affiliated events and fostering local soccer development.
-Recognition and Trust- Families can trust that our club meets AYSA’s criteria, offering a reputable and structured environment for youth soccer.
In summary, being the only AYSA-approved club on the Iron Range signifies exclusivity, credibility, and a commitment to providing a top-tier soccer experience under AYSA’s guidance.
5. My child wants to be on their friend’s team. Can I request this?
Requests are not needed! Your child and their friends will all practice together, ensuring they stay connected while developing their skills.
6. My family likes to travel. What if we can’t make every practice?
Each league has its own attendance policy. For example, the Vic Power Fun League has no mandatory practice or games—families can come when they can! For other leagues, please check with your coach or league coordinator for specific attendance expectations.
7. What does it mean to be AYSA-insured?
Being insured through AYSA means participants, coaches, and volunteers are covered during soccer-related activities. Key protections include:
-Liability Coverage- Protects against claims of injury or property damage during AYSA events.
-Accident Medical Coverage- Helps cover medical costs for injuries sustained during activities (often secondary to personal health insurance).
-Volunteer/Coach Protection- Shields coaches and volunteers from personal liability while performing their roles.
-Event Coverage- Extends to incidents at AYSA-hosted events or facilities.
While AYSA insurance provides peace of mind, it has limits and exclusions, so personal health insurance is still recommended.
8. Why are there evaluations this year?
HCSC is holding evaluations this year due to increased interest in our travel teams. Evaluations help us accurately form teams based on factors like birth year, skill level, and other considerations to ensure fair and balanced teams for all players.
9. What other teams do you collaborate with?
We collaborate with many towns in the area. Grand Rapids is our nearest soccer pal, but we also take to the pitch with teams such as Hermantown, Esko, Cloquet, Duluth, and Superior just to name a few!
10. When does the team store open?
The team store is open year-round! Whether you’re looking for gear or accessories, you can shop at your convenience to support your player and the club. Newly added design logo that you won't want to miss out on. Grab your fan gear today! Bonus- our club collects a % of the proceeds from the store. We use this money on scholarships for those in need!
